There’s a difference
between lighting lay-out and lighting design. Lighting
‘lay-out’ is simply getting light into a space.
Lighting design comprehends the physical and aesthetic,
time and motion, the very character and intent of the
space. Lighting design determines appropriate characteristics
for the intended task, identifies the right light source,
then selects the best fixture to house it. Good lighting
design also comprehends budget, construction schedules,
product availability and repeatability.

for Specification Integrity, a 24 page code of conduct
which, among other things prohibits members from selling
lighting product.
